Visualisation software makes it possible to present complex interactive prototypes to customers and improve the customer experience

For almost a century, Diemme Filtration has been a leading specialist in the field of solid-liquid separation for industrial processes. We manufacture a wide range of filter presses and thickeners of various sizes with features that can be personalised for any type of application and sector.

We interviewed Diemme Filtration’s Emanuele Rivalta who is responsible for technical documentation and 3D modelling for virtual reality and rendering.

The digital challenge

Emanuele tells us: “Diemme Filtration continuously invests in automation and technological innovation. To this end, the company has selected reliable partners who can offer us the support and training we need.  Prisma Tech has been a benchmark for us for several years now.”

“Many of our machines cannot be factory-assembled due to their complexity and size. So we needed to be able to show our products even if the machine had not actually been completed.” Emanuele continues

"We chose VRED because it allows us to view and to show our machines before they are installed so that we can get an idea of the footprint and clearance space required, both for technical and commercial reasons."

The solution

Diemme Filtration has implemented Autodesk VRED software in the company, to enable the creation of product renderings, thereby reducing the prototyping phase and enhancing the quality of the models.  The company has also implemented Virtual Reality, which enables the management of CAD models during the presentation phase, while also allowing the customer to perceive the 3D prototype down to the last detail (even if not physically present).

Emanuele tells us: “We chose VRED because it allows us to view and to show our machines before they are installed so that we can get an idea of the footprint and clearance space required, both for technical and commercial reasons.”

Emanuele continues: “We have recently purchased a portable virtual reality workstation and our next goal will be to bring this technology to the trade fair so that we can show our products to visitors.” Virtual Reality, in fact, enables the management of CAD models during the presentation phase, while also allowing the customer to perceive the 3D prototype down to the last detail (even if not physically present).

The results

Emanuele says: “Now, thanks to Autodesk VRED, in a matter of minutes we can create a scene that can already be used in virtual reality, starting from the 3D CAD model used for production, but without foregoing the possibility to create more complex scenes for the production of photorealistic videos and renderings.”

The Technical Editor continues: “The next step will be to set up collaborative sessions, i.e. two users in two remote locations visiting the same virtual scene, simulating a real encounter. For the purpose of performing the technical review of a design project, for example, or the submission of a sales offer."
